Well the idea was that, if something happens and no one witnesses it, did it happen? I chose the most renowned method of phrasing it. So I'm asking two questions really, one on the personal level and another that's broader.
If I'm going through a bad patch, and no one knows, does it matter?
If we motion through the system of National Service like we do with no one noticing or rewarding, what has become of our toil and pain?
Xinli: It'll all be over in no time, just try to distract yourself and don't think too much about it.
yep, blink of an eye and you'll find yourself screaming "ORD LOH!" and waving your pink IC at botak people on orchard road. heh.
very, very powerful picture. it's so deep that i cant seem to grasp the magnitude of it like right now. way cool.
it doesnt mean that there is no sound when no one hears it. it doesnt have to be experienced, to be real.
i'm sure God would have heard a tree fall, if there ever were trees falling then, when he was strolling through the garden of eden in genesis chapter 2/3.
in the same way God not even notices our pains and sufferings, it can be argued that He allowed it, so that by the end of the trial we would have been built up and be stronger. just see how joseph was being held in the egyptian prison, or how job suffered so many calamities one after another.
pain and suffering are noticed as such because we recognize that there is a common standard of moral values and ethical viewpoints, and this build-on system of rights and wrongs are another way in which we see God at work, through His general revealation.
oh wells i hope i didnt sound like i was preaching, (very badly done anyway,) and yeah this is way overdue, but hope it'd help you a lil in whatever way it can yup.

Depends on your perception of sounds and how real the tree is.
